This blog post has been a long time coming now. I want to introduce Tom & Keryn. They are amazing people and amazing artists. Back in May, Tom & Keryn flew me out to Bali to photograph them and their wedding. It was just the three of us traveling there and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. In September, they had their big reception party in Portland where all their friends and family attended. While we were in Bali Tom shot video of the trip on his 5D Mark II and made a beautiful video that he presented to Keryn at the reception party. Check it out. Also see more photos on their music slide show HERE.

I can not thank you both enough for everything. I had the most wonderful time and will never forget it. God bless your marriage and life together forever.

I absolutely loved meeting and working with Chris & Stephanie. Stephanie's gown was the RADDEST wedding dress to photograph. It was made by Seattle designer Chrissy Wai-Ching. For their portrait shoot they took me to a nearby airfield. For their table center peaces, Chris brought all his really cool old cameras from home and they sat on these coffee burlap sacks from Portland // Seattle. I loved how they represented their love for good coffee and photography through all their wedding details. Thank you for being the artists that you are. Many blessings to you and your family.

WOW! These pictures are amazing. You did a great job, Jared Birt, because in real life these two are painfully ugly... JUST KIDDING! Will you submit them to be published in a bridal magazine? They are just great.

Savoy Tavern & Bistro
2500 SE Clinton ST Portland, OR

This is one of our all time favorite places to eat at. The people, the atmosphere and location are all the perfect reflection of a unique Portland restaurant. The food is wonderful, local and fresh. The coffee is my favorite because it is served in these vintage metal cups that are so fun to drink out of. The design is modern/retro and when you are there it is so comfortable that chatting away all night with friends is easy to do. Next time your in SE stop on in if you haven't already.

This year Polaroid announced it was going to stop producing instant film, spelling the end for the classic Polaroid camera.

Now Urban Outfitters worldwide is teaming up with The Impossible Project who recently purchased all of the dead stock, plus all the machinery and equipment at Polaroid's Netherlands factory before it closed. Together the two hope to bring back the Polaroid camera in 2010.

Over the weekend I flew to the east coast for a wedding in Pittsburgh, PA. I made a stop in Washington DC to visit my cousin, Sara, and her husband, Gunnar. I spent my time walking around DC, people watching, visiting museums and relaxing in good conversation with Sara and Gunnar. Gunnar works at a beautiful art gallery next to the Ritz and Sara works for a " Top Secret " Gov agency ;) Well, maybe not top secret. They just celebrated their 1st year wedding anniversary.

On Friday, we drove to Pitt and stayed with my brother Josh. The day after the wedding the five of us, including Josh's girlfriend, Krystyn, spent most of the day taking polaroids around the city and eating out at some cool restaurants. It was a way short but very nice trip.

Can't wait until you guys can make it out the west coast and visit Portland.

We have lived in Portland for just over three years now and have loved every minute of it. There is something endearing about a city that thinks it is a small town. There is always some place new to explore, eat at or bike to. Portlanders keep a perspective of culture, art and diversity. They love fashion, being unique, quality coffee, organic food, local brewed beer, biking, the outdoors, books and music. The city definitely attracts its flavor of different people from all over the world. If you haven't visited the rose city I highly recommend the trip up. For those of you who have just moved up here...welcome, and I ask that you help keep Portland a clean and simple city to live in.

You know the wedding is going to be such a joy to be a part of when you walk into the rehearsal party at the NINES in Portland and the entire family of the bride and groom are there to welcome you as if they already know you. Rebekah and I felt just like we were part of their family. Morgan and Raegen are some very talented designers at NIKE. Their love for creative design and style is outstanding. They are proof that a wedding can be completely filled with great laughter,  no worries, no stress and still be intimate. As proof of her incredible designing abilites, Raegan added many personal  and handmade touches to her gown such as the winged cap-sleeved jacket. It was absolutely a piece of art.

Another thing I loved about their wedding was the bridal party and guests. It was so neat to encounter a group of people that were equally laid back as Morgan and Raegen and yet still experience the meaningful relationships that existed between them all. They were all mostly designers and from all over the country. Raegen and Morgan have this classic romantic chemistry about them that I love. They joke and laugh then turn on a little dramatic passion for the camera. Thank you Morgan and Raegen.

Okay, Okay I know I leave a comment on every post but truly Jared...You have got to be kidding me. The photography of this remarkable couple is so deep and breathtaking. I actually started crying when I read what you wrote about them. Raegen, your touches to your dress inspire me as a designer myself and the way you designed your wedding inspires me in this business!!!! I also thank you for giving my friends such a beautiful pallet;) Congrats!!!!

Jared, Thank you so much for capturing our wedding so beautifully. Part of what made the evening stress free was knowing what a wonderful photographer we had. Thank you also for your generous words. How great to work with someone who you genuinely like and respect. Morgan and I look forward to our future friendship as well. Thanks also to Austie for her kind comments. I familiar with your work as well and so I take your remarks regarding some of our wedding details as a great compliment!
